Abstract Submission Information
We are now accepting abstracts for ICPAN 2025.
The submission deadline is Friday 24th January 2025.
Abstracts can be submitted as oral only, poster only, and oral or poster.
Oral presentations will be no more than 30 minutes in length.
The maximum word count is 400 words. This should include a maximum 250-word abstract and a maximum 150-word description of up to three presentation objectives

1. Advances in Clinical Practice
2. Perianaesthesia Clinical Inquiry
3. Perianaesthesia Nurse Development
4. Empowering Nursing Practice in Diverse Settings

1. Advances in Clinical Practice
- Technology integration: Leveraging innovative technologies that enhance care delivery and improve patient safety and/or clinical outcomes.
- Care team collaboration: Engaged, connected interprofessional teams optimize perianaesthesia care delivery to improve team satisfaction and patient experience.
- Patient centered care: Prioritizing patients’ preferences and including them in treatment planning / decision-making to deliver personalized care in fast-paced care settings (for example: pre-anaesthesia optimization; pain management, opioid safety; cultural considerations; impact from social drivers of health, behavioural health).
- New surgical/procedural specialties: care team planning and clinical management
- Anaesthetic considerations, complications: pre and-post procedure considerations
- Caring for special populations: patient needs in the perioperative setting (for example: paediatric to advanced age; developmentally disabled, cognitively impaired; chronic pain; substance use disorder; LGBTQ, obstetrics).
2. Perianaesthesia Clinical Inquiry
- Research reports: disseminate new study findings and outcomes recommendations to inform the perianaesthesia community
- Clinical quality improvement Initiatives: evidence-based implementation projects that enhance efficiency, safety, and overall quality of perianaesthesia care.
3. Perianaesthesia Nurse Development
- Nurse education and clinical practice integration strategies
- Clinical competency validation
- Simulation training experiences
- Recruitment, retention
4. Empowering Nursing Practice in Diverse Settings
- Advancing the specialty: investment in nurse education in low-middle income countries can enhance practitioner skills and improve patient safety while supporting the United Nations’ goal for universal access to health care. How have you given voice to advance the specialty and promote the importance of nurses’ inclusion in global health policy decisions that impact surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anesthesia care team outcomes?
- Global connections: collaborative efforts that foster an exchange of knowledge, promote cultural understanding, and further connectivity for international growth in the skilled perianaesthesia nursing workforce.
- Environmental sustainability: incorporation of sustainable practices that contribute to environmental preservation and conservation, and/or support long-term health system viability.
- Work-life balance, personal wellness: creative ways used to improve team health
